Respiratory Protection - Bump Test
Steps for Gas Detector Bump Test
1. Ensure you are in a fresh air environment

2. Turn detector on

3. Wait for detector to go through the self check process (note: there is no way to speed this up - be patient)

4. Ensure o2 is reading approx. 20.9%

5. Attach the calibration cup that came with the detector

6. Open bump gas cylinder for approximately 3-5 seconds
Note: if using the balloon system: pinch the hose fill the balloon to about the size of your fist release the hose

Each sensor must reach the low alarm setting within one Minute - if this does not happen:

    A. Check the date on the bump gas and replace if more than or close to one year old, Then

    B. Conduct a bump test with fresh gas

    C. If bump test still fails, do not use the detector!

    D. Take detector in for calibration or repair

    8. Record your readings (you may need to go into your peak readings to see what they were)

    9. The detector has now been properly bump tested
